The International Interior Design Biennale is a large (40,000 m²) 10-day design fair in Xpo Kortrijk. Over 250 international exhibitors, young designers and upcoming talent present their designs. There is also an extensive international programme of master lectures, workshops, presentations, etc. and an International Design Competition and Young Designers Fair.

For the 22nd edition, the 2010 International Design Biennale asked RCA to:

  • Develop, implement and coordinate a structured press policy for the Benelux in cooperation with the organisation and on an international level with the PR partners
  • Creating a relationship based on trust with the different press categories and developing this further
  • Increasing and reinforcing the familiarity and image of the Biennale on a national and international level
  • Obtaining optimum editorial attention in the press through proactive, dynamic and frequent communication with the various press categories
  • Putting the 2010 Interior Design Biennale on the map internationally as a notable and high-minded design event
  • Stimulating potential visitors to visit the fair via the press

RCA provided a series of PR activities for the International Interior Design Biennale:

  • Permanent update of press files
  • Coordination and sending 7 press releases in the run-up to the Biennale
  • Briefing and coordination the international PR partners
  • Sending and following up the invitations to the national and international design press
  • Follow-up of various press inquiries
  • Coordination and support of international press conferences
  • Press conference 10 May: announcement of theme/guest of honour/fleshing out the 2010 International Interior Design Biennale
  • Press conference and opening event on 15 October: Highlights Biennale 2010
  • Running the press room: reception and answering questions of the national and international press
  • Coordination of interviews with national and international design talents

Impact

The International Interior Design Biennale was a success and RCA has succeeded in achieving all PR objectives.

A staggering 92,138 professional and non-professional interior design lovers visited the International Interior Design Biennale between 15 and 24 October. 
The Biennale also scored on an international level: the number of international visitors increased compared to the previous edition in 2008.
The visitors came from 58 different countries.
In addition, 725 journalists from all corners of the world visited the Biennale.
